Hart vs Hogan: The Countdown Begins for WWE and TNA

At the time I am writing this there is about 32 hours until TNA goes on the air with their first, of what appears to be many, Monday night specials.  This special is being made an even bigger affair by the debut of a man who has been the main source of conversation in the wrestling community for months now, Hulk Hogan.

This however has been overshadowed in recent weeks by another appearance of a legend who has not been in a ring for quite some time, none other than Bret Hart.  WWE is not going to let TNA just come into their night without putting up a hell of a fight.

The question on some peoples minds is, who do people want to see more?  While Hulk Hogan is unquestionable the biggest name in wrestling history, Bret Hart is also loved world wide, and is considered a much better wrestler.

Hogan has been in the limelight since Rocky III.  He left the world of Pro Wrestling and went on to become a reality television star, appearing in his own show Hogan Knows Best, as well as his own Celebrity Championship Wrestling.   His daughter Brooke has her own show on which Hulk has appeared many time.

Bret Hart is a different story.  While he has not been reclusive, he is not the media glutton that Hogan is.  Hart has made appearances for Ring of Honor as well as toured for book signings.  This has been the extent of his public life after leaving wrestling.

Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but has since only appeared in video footage.  This will be the first time he has been at a WWE wrestling event in 12 years.  That in many peoples mind is much bigger than seeing a guy who has been visible for years.

TNA is hoping that by bringing in Bischoff and Hogan, they will elevate themselves to the next level, and begin closing in on the WWE.  Bishoff and Hogan both have a vast wealth of knowledge when it comes to marketing and wrestling, but is it enough to compete with the billion dollar giant?

We will see this Monday.  TNA will almost surely lose the night in ratings, but by how much?  Will they break the 3.0 rating Hogan said they would get, or will they fail to rise above their normal Impact ratings?

I will be watching both shows on DVR to see who had the better night, but one thing is for sure, the wrestling business feels like it is on the verge of a big change and I am glad to be hear to see it.
