Manchester United v Leeds United: Jermaine Beckford Delivers FA Cup Magic
In one of the most sensational, entertaining, and fiery encounters of world football's greatest domestic cup competition, Leeds United have delivered by far the greatest shock of the FA Cup in 2010.
A goal from headline act Jermaine Beckford sealed an incredible, unbelievable, and legendary 1-0 victory in what has been a truly epic sell-out encounter at Old Trafford, dubbed as the "Threatre of Dreams."
And what a dream it has been for the 9,000 strong crowd of Leeds fans from Yorkshire, who've seen their team (one that currently languishes in Coca Cola League One, the third tier of English football) defy all the odds and beat the current Premier League champions.
In stark contrast, it has been a complete nightmare for the 67,000 home fans, who have witnessed the multi-millionaire stars of their club disappoint hundreds of millions across the globe.
A complete lacklustre showing from Manchester United , who squandered numerous opportunities in front of goal and displayed at a lack of desire, stood in frightening contrast to their lower league counterparts.
Leeds United came to Old Trafford with an attacking outlook and a real desire to take the game to their far more illustrious opponents, going all out to win.
And win is what they did, with in-form striker Jermaine Beckford adding immeasureably to his market value by notching up his 20th goal of the current campaign.
Unlike other clubs, even Premier League and UEFA Champions League standard sides, who come to Old Trafford with a negative attitude and a ridiculously defensive outlook, Leeds have proved what can be done if a team has confidence and believes in their own ability to seal victory.
So far in this round third of the FA Cup, the romance and magic spark appeared to have been lost, with no giant-killings being reported.
That was until Sunday, 3 January of course, with the once-upon-a-time dominant team of English football returning to their glory days, putting that magic and romance back into the football competition the whole world loves to watch.
