Auburn Football: New Recruits Show Team Spirit
2010 recruit Michael Dyer, the No. 1-rated running back in the nation, was a great pick up for the Auburn Tigers. First he brought his best friend Dakota Mosley to Auburn. He has promoted the Auburn Tigers to fellow recruits including Marcus Lattimore. While all of this is impressive, there is one trait that has not been brought out.
While watching the Under Armor All-American recruiting special, the announcers found one thing that made the Auburn recruits stand out among their peers. They got into one group together like a family. The leader of this group was Michael Dyer.
They commented how the Auburn group toured Disney together having fun. There was no other group from any team that did this. We must remember this is a group made up of the top talent in the nation.
Every one of Auburn's recruits was together. Every team requires leadership and a sense of team. It appears the seven recruits committed to Auburn already have both.
Auburn commit Dakota Mosley will be doing special teams snapping for both teams in the Under Armor All-American Game as he was the most reliable out of the entire group. He is one of many standouts in the Auburn 2010 recruiting class at this game.
Quarterback Cameron Newton committed and signed with the Auburn Tigers today. He is a five-star quarterback and the No. 1-rated player coming from the junior college ranks this year. The one thing that stood out in what all of his former teammates had to say about him was, "He is a great guy and a great leader."
Cameron Newton said he was ecstatic to be an Auburn Tiger. He said he was going to get started working right away in the offseason to be ready to compete. This young man is a proven winner. He has all the traits of a good leader, and has the will as well as the know-how to win.
If one looks at more than the star rating of the Auburn 2010 recruiting class, the one trait that does not show up in the scouting services is leadership. This class is full of leadership and winners.
The full class is listed here: http://www.wareagleauburn.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=333:on-the-recruiting-trail-with-the-mayor-and-ausporttalk-volume-iii&catid=37:auburn-recruiting
Remember that Cameron Newton is now a full commit. He is still a prospect on this list. There could be more good news out of the Under Armor All-American Game if other Auburn prospects decide to announce.
One thing that is perfectly clear: This is a foundation class. It has all the parts needed to put the program together. While the players will be young, Auburn will be able to fully implement the offensive and defensive plan.
If all of the verbal commits go through to signing day, this is an incredibly talented class of players. Many of them will be able to immediately contribute. Others will add competition in practice and depth. They will all play their part, as this is as good a targeted recruiting job as I have ever known.
