What a week: two championship games and one victory. The one I lost, I insist I had the better team. It was a tough loss to take because for the second straight week, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was a fantasy bum with only one touchdown! However, he’s winning in December, and that illustrates the difference between fantasy and the NFL ! Then there was Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver , with his three-reception, 33-yard performance. OUCH!

On the positive side, I won Time Warner Cable ’s Expert League, and that one was special because it’s a television show’s expert league and they give this league great play on air. You can’t beet that as it immediately separates this league from others and makes it more prestigious.

So far I have about a dozen expert championships for KFFL, and my return to championship-level play coincided with a focus on doing my own work. Don’t get me wrong, KFFL’s editors create some of the best work in the industry, but I’m the original!

Thanks for nothing, Big Ben!

On the personal front, I had another top-10 finish (seventh overall) in a high-stakes league. This year it was the NFFC. That brings me to three top-10 finishes in high-stakes leagues since 2002, and I view this season as another successful one in which I continue to prove I’m the best there is in the industry. Yes, I’m that arrogant, but I also believe my body of work backs that up.

I do want to point out one individual whom I envy and have the utmost respect for. That’s John Hansen of FantasyGuru.com. The only fellow industry entrepreneur I view at my level and in some years as the best out there (that’s where the envy comes in). Make sure you check out his Web site and work. I’ve always been impressed with it.

Week 16 One-liners

Who cost you your championship? For myself, in one league as already stated, Driver and Romo. In the high-stakes league in which I entered the week in second place, Fred Davis , Cincinnati Bengals place kicker Shayne Graham , Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson , and the biggest boob of them all, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ! While I’m bitter at losing, it was a great, fun season, and I’m thrilled about it because for the first time in many years I enjoyed a fantasy football season!

I would like to thank the following individuals who invited KFFL and me to participate in their expert leagues: Michael Fabiano of NFL.com , Jeff Ma of CitizenSports.com and Herbie Teope of Time Warner Cable . I urge you all to check their sites and the work they do.

Special thanks to my chairs—the KFFL staff I bounce thoughts off weekly—Ryan R. Bonini , Bryce McRae , and Nicholas Minnix for allowing me to monopolize their busy time during the season. Great thanks to Tim Heaney for being my unofficial partner in my personal league, the NFFC high-stakes league!

Just remember, it’s up to you to make sure the players or defenses listed conform and are good fits with your league’s scoring rules. Thursday’s blog, look for first come, first serve players that may be out there for last minute tweaks to your roster!
