Lori Chalupny is making snickerdoodles.

The Saint Louis Athletica captain and U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (U.S. WNT) co-captain is making snickerdoodles—and later on, bread from a family recipe—as she calls in for an interview. Such is just a glimpse of her multi-tasking skills, which are really more insane once you get her on the field.

Chalupny, affectionately called by her teammates as "Chalupa," took the time to chat about spending her offseason at the University of North Carolina, her experience with Athletica, and captaining the national team in Christie Rampone's absence.

The Q&A below, is not about that.

The following are random questions that Chalupny gamely answered at the latter part of our interview. Watch out for the real Q&A after the holiday break.

KG: What's the one place you've never been to that you want to visit?

LC : Australia. I've never been there and I've always wanted to go. Australia and New Zealand, somewhere in there.

KG: When you were in Germany, you sang a German song in a U.S. Soccer video . What is your go-to karaoke song?

LC : Oh man...umm...umm...I'll say, uh, "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.

KG: Have you ever had a Taco Bell chalupa?

LC : Yes! I'm a big fan of Taco Bell.

KG: Looks like you've met the Puma Penguin . Is it male or female?

LC : (Laughs) I don't know, they had a scarf around him. Umm (laughs) I don't know! But he's a cute little guy. He was sitting next to our little snowman, so I think they made a good couple. I don't know which is the man and which is the woman but they look good together.

KG: What was it like hiking up the Great Wall of China?

LC : It was very hard. I tried to explain to people just how steep it was and how many stairs there were but it seems like no matter what I say or the pictures I show, it just doesn't do it justice. But I mean, at some point, I was literally pulling myself up by the handrail. So, it was tough. It was a good workout.

KG: But you guys are soccer players. You've got mad endurance.

LC : That's what I kept thinking! But it was so humid there too and I was sweatin'.

KG: What is your New Year's resolution?

LC : I haven't really thought of one yet. I'm sure I'll think of something at the last minute but I don't know if I've ever really stuck with any resolution for more than, like, five days.

KG: (Athletica goalkeeper) Hope Solo mentioned that the Red Stars spoiled your home opener last season, and she's looking to spoil their home opener against Athletica as revenge. So it kinda looks like the Chicago Red Stars and Saint Louis Athletica are becoming home opener rivals.

As captain of Athletica, is there anything you want to say to the captain of the Red Stars, and your good buddy, Lindsay Tarpley?

LC : (Laughs) I don't want to do any trash talking, it might come back to get me! I'm not very good at it either. We'll just let the soccer speak for itself.

Stay tuned after the holiday break for the main part of our interview, where Chalupny also talks about the WPS draft and the U.S. WNT's experience playing in Germany.
