As we all know by now, Bret Hart has signed a four-month performance contract with WWE. This most likely means he will be involved with Wrestlemania in some way.
The thing people seem to think is most likely is Bret having some kind of Wrestlemania appearance with Vince McMahon, whether a match between them or a match where they pick representatives.
With the WWE pushing a lot of its younger talent these days I could see the Hart Dynasty being involved with this in some way. Perhaps Vince will have them turn on Bret and Bret will have to choose a team to take them on.
Maybe Bret will side with Smith and Kidd and Vince will pick another team to face them. There are more than enough possibilities to give the Hitman something interesting to do with his time in WWE.
The main question here is, will this make a difference in WWE's slipping ratings? WWE has not had the same kind of success in recent years that they have had in the past.
Their PPV buy rates are way down, the TV ratings are getting worse, and the roster is pretty beaten up with both Rey and the Undertaker needing surgery, not to mention Edge's injury.
Bringing in Bret seems like a good idea for two reasons.
1. It will entice some of Bret's old fans who may no longer watch WWE to come back and check it out.
2. It will rival Hogan coming to TNA in a major way.
Many think Hulk Hogan is the most popular wrestler of all time. They are wrong. He is definitely the most recognizable wrestler of all time, but there are a lot of people who don't like Hulk anymore.
Some people feel he is a glutton for fame and will do whatever he can to get in the spotlight. Others feel he is more of a wrestling politician than a wrestler. Others think he has a big ego.
All that aside, Bret may win out in the end on being the most popular wrestler. He is known worldwide as one of the best in-ring workers of all time.
Bret has his share of critics as well, but no one will argue that he is not one of the best technical wrestlers of all time.
Anyone who argues against that knows very little about wrestling.
Regardless of what the plans for Bret are, his presence alone will make a huge difference. He has not been seen in a major wrestling outlet in about 10 years and to come home to WWE would be a dream come true for many fans.
What do you guys think will be the result of Bret coming back to WWE?
