Arsenal needs a striker, while Bayern Munich wants a new defender.

Specifically, Bayern Munich wants Philippe Senderos.

Fortunately for Bayern, Senderos has had a nightmare time at Arsenal and can be easily taken from the Gunners.

However, even though he’s out of favor, Arsenal Manager  Arsene Wenger won’t let him just walk out.

Therefore, I propose that Arsenal should send the Swiss defender to Bayern and in return send Luca Toni to the Emirates. While Toni might not be the world class striker that Arsenal needs to compete for the title, he is a seasoned veteran and his arrival at Arsenal would not take away from funds that could be used to buy the kind of striker that Arsenal needs.

Some would argue that Wenger would never bring Toni to Arsenal because he’s over thirty years old. But he would cost the club no money and would be a perfect player aid in Arsenal’s current injury crises.

In addition, despite his age, Toni still has goals left in him. Last season for Bayern, he scored 18 goals in all competitions despite dealing with an Achilles tendon injury during the second half of the season.

What would Arsenal be losing? While Senderos once displayed amazing potential, he never really got the chance to develop into the player he was once hyped to be and he continues to fall down the pecking order. He spent last season at AC Milan and has only been featured for the Gunners twice this season, both times in the Carling Cup.

Therefore, while Arsenal is in an injury crisis, trading Senderos for Toni would benefit both teams and players as well.
