Actually, that’s a trick question. Because there is only one choice, and that is Michael Jordan.

No, no. Stop. There’s no argument. Kobe knows it, I know it, and if you don’t know it, you are ridiculous.

I got riled up on this from reading Joe Po’s last two articles about how infuriated he gets when people attempt to act like Kobe can sniff Jordan’s j-strap. And I agree, and that’s coming as someone who wasn’t even really a Jordan fan.

But Mike was like Tiger today — you don’t a choice but to pull for them. Not pulling for either of them doesn’t make you un-American or anything, it just makes you flat out stupid, because you’re wasting your time. If you spend all your time rooting against Tiger (as a Phil fan, trust me, I have before) you will only end up feeling like a loser.

I pulled for Rocco Mediate in the U.S. Open recently, but only because Johnny Miller was such a d-bag about his attitude towards the Roc. I wasn’t upset when Tiger won either, because the story and the finish and the whole tournament were amazing. Much like Eldrick himself. And MJ. Hell, Kobe is amazing too, but he’s not on the same level.

I’d love to hear a viable argument for why he is though, but I find the fact that he gave up a 20+ point lead to someone in the NBA Finals and got torched by Boston enough of an indemnification of his legacy to prevent someone from ever trying to act like Jordan wasn’t better. Way better. Way-way-way better.

  1. MJ duh

  2. Agree-though Kobe has his days and is fun to watch. There is no contest; "His -Airness" for sure.
