Road To Playoffs For Tennessee Titans Close To Impossible

Robert ReesDec 15, 2009

First of all, I want to point out that going into the playoffs last year, the two best teams in the AFC were the Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As of this week, both of those teams have the exact same record and are poised to miss the playoffs.

Which leads me into whether the Titans can make the playoffs or not. Considering that even if they win the next three games, they still can't make the playoffs unless a slew of other teams completely implode, I don't think that this will be a fairy tale ending for the Titans.

The top priority is for them to come in second in their division by winning the rest of their games, which are against the Miami Dolphins, the San Diego Chargers and the Seattle Seahawks. The Dolphins and Chargers both pose a threat especially if Vince Young isn't 100%.

And then the Titans need serious help.

In order for Tennessee to make the playoffs, they need the Jaguars, Texans, Dolphins, Ravens, and Jets all to lose their last two out of three.

Their bid for the playoffs would also be helped by having the Broncos lose the rest of their games and the Steelers lose at least one more game.

The Dolphins pose the biggest problem for the Titans as they need certain teams to beat the Dolphins while at the same time needing the Dolphins to beat other teams!

In short, it is pretty close to impossible for the Titans to make the playoffs after their disastrous start.

As of now, the Dolphins and the Ravens have the best chance of making the playoffs as the wild cards in the AFC.
