Week 14 is in the books of the 2009 NFC West Featured-Columnist Competition.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the competition, click here for details, and please keep checking back for updates throughout the year.

The NFC West went 1-3 in Week 14, with the usual caveat of the only win coming against each other . St. Louis and Seattle were beaten by a combined score of 81-14, while San Francisco dominated Arizona in the Monday night showcase. Not a good week for the NFC West...

Here are the results and honors from Week 14.

Pick of the Week :  Ron (San Francisco over Arizona)

Only one contestant had faith in the Niners to take care of business on Monday night. Both of the San Francisco FCs turned their backs on their team (for shame), but Ron nailed this pick right on the head.

Arizona used a Rams-worthy turnover total to seal the deal against the 'Niners. With the only solo Underdog hit of the week, Ron definitely earned the pick of the week.

Fail of the Week : Andrew (Seattle over Houston)

Typically I would say that both of the team's FCs picking against that team is a warning sign, but as we just saw with Ron's pick, sometimes it works out. Unfortunately for Andrew, he went out on the limb for the Seahawks, and Houston beat this pick to death.

Houston scored fourteen seconds into the game and never looked back.

This was undoubtedly the fail of the week.

The Underdog Returns!   Three Successful Underdog Bonus Picks

The Underdog Bonus returned, but not with a large splash.

Ron (San Francisco over Arizona), Steven (Miami over Jacksonville), and Dray (Miami over Jacksonville) all earned bonus points this week.

Considering there were only five picks eligible for the Underdog Bonus, I would say that it made a good showing!

Hot Streak :  Rob (13/16 Correct Picks; 3 First Place Finishes in Last 4 Weeks)

After taking place in the last place debacle of Week 9 (only 7 total points), Rob has turned around his picks with a vengeance. Rob has tallied first place, or a piece of first, in Weeks 11, 13, and 14, while overtaking Andrew and Scotty for sole possession of first place (by two whole points!)

It's been a great streak for Rob, now the test is to finish the season strong.

Struck Out Swinging :  St. Louis FCs (Cold Streak to Finish the Day)

Things weren't going according to plan for Ron and Seth in the early part of the day, as some crucial picks missed. Things got much worse, however, in the last four games on the list.

In the last four games listed, Ron and Seth went a combined 1-8, with the only hit being Ron's Underdog Choice of San Francisco.

Not an ideal way to close out the day...

This slow day also allowed the Arizona FCs to overtake them for third place, dropping St. Louis into last place by two points.

Good week, guys.

That's it for Week 14. Chip in on what you think.
