DeSean Jackson could be confused with Michael Jackson the way he’s been throwing up hits this season. Last night in a 45 – 38 win over the Giants he added a 72 yard punt return and 60 yard reception both for touchdowns putting a few more hits on this “Thriller” type season he is having.
DeSean tied the record which was set by Elroy “crazy legs” Hirsch in 1951 and also Devin “I’m not a wide receiver” Hester in 2007.
As far as big play game busters go Jackson is proving that he is by far the best this season and steeling the crown from Bears standout Hester.
I have argued with people about whether Hester’s season was more impressive because he did it mostly in the punt and kick return game. I believe that it’s less impressive because of that fact, Jackson has proved to be a versatile weapon in the pass game, and well Hester on the other hand is best served only as a return man.
When McNabb and Jackson are on the field together it looks similar to the backyard Thanksgiving Day game with family and friends, I’ll run fast and you throw it far.
Coach Andy Reid is so smitten with Jackson’s play this season he did something many of us thought surely he couldn’t do last night and that is giving Jackson a chest bump on the sideline.
“Human Nature” would lead us to believe that when teams line up against Jackson they know whatever the coverage is he has the ability to “Beat It”. Eagles fans also know that if the game comes down to a shootout that teams don’t “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” with McNabb and Jackson.
These are some of the similarities that Michael’s record breaking album Thriller and the surely record breaking season that DeSean Jackson is bound to have. There are 9 songs on the “King of Pop’s” hit album and DeSean needs only one more 50 yard plus score to hold the record for scores of such length and that might make him the king of un "STOP" able.
