The term report is in. Who has earned A’s and who needs to study more diligently? Some pleasant surprises in the class and some who need more focus and determination to improve their grades. Today, the Big East lowdown.
Left out of most pre-season polls, they have handled everyone easily. Tough test against Florida tonight will tell something more about this group.
West Virginia - A tough, tough team with skill (Butler, Ebanks) at the swing positions. They are going to get better and tougher to play against. They, too, need to face stiffer foes to truly test their mettle.
No losses yet but their ability to defend is a question mark. Sure, they can score but ....
Undefeated with a win over Butler and improving. Again, if J.T. III can use his bench .....
Only mistake was an OT loss to another good team (Gonzaga). A team to watch in the second term.
Have lost their two big matchups and otherwise beat up on weaker opponents. They need some depth in the backcourt to have a shot at the Big East crown.
Have started decently but their depth and relative inexperience may hurt.
No missteps yet, but a very weak schedule to date.
Racking up wins in a really weak non-conference sked.
Missing some classmates but haven’t looked great, especially in a loss to Indiana.
Won at Temple, which is a decent win; lost at Duke and were competitive only in the second half.
Bulls are hammering the middies. Are they finally ready to play in the Big East tourney?
Mike Rosario and Gregory Echenique are great. The Scarlet Knights can compete most games but will they be consistent enough?
Wins against low or mid-majors only. Another long year for the Demons.
The 7-3 record includes a 40-point loss to Vermont and a13-point loss to George Washington.
They need to get healthy and fast - Could this be last year’s Notre Dame? A weak schedule and two losses from it.
