First on the notes this week for the Arkansas Razorback Football team is that the Hogs are going to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis. This will be official this weekend following the Conference USA Championship Game. The Liberty Bowl website has Arkansas merchandise on sale already and a few other hints have been dropped.
Apparently, a Razorback fan has an idea of what he thinks the 2010 new Arkansas uniforms designed by Nike should look like. Over the past couple of days many of you probably got this in an email or forwarded to you by a friend. Apparently this is not going to be the Hogs new look according to Chris Bahn at Arkansassports360.com
Next on the notes is current Arkansas Offensive Coordinator Paul Petrino has been linked to interest in a new job opening as the Head Coach at Marshall. You may recall just a short time ago Paul turned down the Western Kentucky job. However, sources indicate that Petrino has "high interest" in being the next head man at Marshall.
Rounding out the notes for this week Ryan Mallett has been making big news. Starting with being named as a Manning Award Finalist, and more recently as the 2010 NFL Draft talks start to heat up. The word on the "street" is that Mallett may go early into the NFL Draft, but that will not be known until after the season and bowl game a month from now. People are starting to believe that Mallett and other young players do not want to fall victim to what happened to Sam Bradford in 2009.
Be sure to read the quotes and check out the links below for more on all of these topics.
Mel Kiper from ESPN said when asked about Ryan Mallett entering the 2010 NFL Draft, "That would surprise me. It wouldn't shock me, but another year with Bobby Petrino would make him hands down the No. 1 pick in the draft...If he came out, he'd be in the discussion in the top 10-15 overall. He'd be in there with Clausen. He's only played this one full season. NFL teams are leery of that. They want more of a body of work than that. It's asking a lot of Mallet of dealing with the pressures of being a high pick with the limited experience. I would say go back for another year."
Paul Petrino stated just a few weeks back in regards to turning down the Western Kentucky job, "I said the day I got here, my goal in life is to be a head coach some day,."
(Q&A is older than a week old, but the most recent and a good read)
Chat with Mel Kiper (third question down is on Ryan Mallett and the NFL)
