Charlie Weis and the Irish finished the season 6-6 and ended with a four-game losing streak.

After the last few disappointing season Charlie Weis has been fired as head coach of Notre Dame.

.Charlie Weis was the head coach of Notre Dame for 5 seasons. Weis had six years left on his contract and this was a move that many expected to happen.

Assistant head coach Rob Ianello will be taking over football operations temporarily until they find a new coach.

The Notre Dame players will have a meeting to vote on whether they want to play in a bowl game. I expect they will not end up going to play in a bowl game if they know what is good for them.

The Irish began 6-2 before being upset by Navy then losing to Pitt, Uconn (2OT) and finally Stanford who came from behind to win.

There are several coaches that Notre Dame may be interested in. Two of the most notable coaches are Urban Myer of Florida and Oklahoma's Bob Stoops.  Urban Myer has said he will be staying with Florida. Stoops also said he was not going anywhere.

Cinci's Brian Kelly has been thrown into the mix as well.

Weis may go into the NFL as an Offensive Coordinator. Weis came into ND and raised the bar. He did very well for himself he had 19 wins in his first two seasons. The past two seasons the Irish have caved in.

The Irish Defense has never been ranked higher than 39th. They never pulled through and always let some good plays out of their hands.

It has been obvious that Weis would not be with Notre Dame especially after losing to Connecticut.

The next coach to come in will carry the burden of pushing the Irish to end the longest time without a title in the program's history.
