Notre Dame Loses Yet Again...Will Charlie Weis Be Fired?
I am not a Notre Dame fan and I do not root against them.
I could care less for Charlie Weis, so this is not going to be a ten page article about how great Notre Dame is or how this is all Charlies fault. But this is going to talk about if Charlie Weis should be fired or not.
Notre Dame's 2009 Schedule
1. Nevada 35-0 W
2. Michigan 38-34 L
3. Michigan State 33-30 W
4. Purdue 24-21 W
5. Washington 37-30 W
6. USC 34-27 L
7. BC 20-16 W
8. Washington State 40-14 W
9. Navy 23-21 L
10. Pitt 27-22 L
11. UCONN 33-30 L
12. Stanford 45-38 L
I think Charlie Weis should be fired from Notre Dame.
I think this because he has finished this season 6-6, which is not awful, but for such a big college football school, that is unacceptable.
His team also lost the last four games of the season, which is not good.
With a quarterback as good as Jimmy Clausen ,this team should have won more games.
Jimmy Clausen Stats
Sure, a QB does not make a team, but he has an average of over two TD's per game and has made 68% of his passes.
The rushing game is not that good with only 13 TD's this season, but that is still an average of over 3 TD's a game.
A problem with this team, and is a main reason for my reason that Charlie should be fired, is they are not good at finishing games.
It could be clock managment, or bad play calling...whatever it is, the largest margin of loss is just seven points this season.
Maybe if they won few more of those games, I would not be writing this article right now.
Also this is the second straight season where Notre Dame has finished 6-6.
Don't they need improvment?
Many people will say, "Oh well, tough season" or "bad recruiting"...well, whose fault is that? Charlie Weis's, of course.
Also next years recruiting they only have four ESPN 360 top 150 players.
I mean, it is Notre Dame, you need to do better than that.
Sure, for almost any other team that is good, but last year recruiting they had seven ESPN 360 top 150 players and what did they do with that 6-6, so how would that get any better with only four 150 players?
That is my opinion on the Charlie Weis issue at hand in Notre Dame.
