Elite XC: Return Of The King Reigns Supreme

Jason FouchaAnalyst IJune 14, 2008

After watching the Elite XC's first Showtime card since  the CBS fiasco, one has to wonder.....WHERE WAS THIS ON MAY 31st?

If I wanted to show someone a good MMA card, this wouldn't be my first choice, but it wouldn't be a bad choice.

Lets start with the first fight.

Wayne Cole vs Rafael Feijao

A great quick fight, I had my money on Cole after seeing his last fight, and Feijao just dominated. I was very impressed with Feijao, and think he could be a new soon to be star in the MMA world.

Dave Herman vs Ron Waterman

I thought Ron had a decent chance, but Dave came out and dazzled the crowd. My only concern about Herman besides "Blueberry Muffin" is his unwillingness to get a Jiu-Jitsu training session in every now and then. But Herman's win was impressive, and I believe with the right training he could be a top Heavyweight.

Ninja Rua vs Paul Bonello

I picked this one right from the get go, but Ninja sure did make him pay for his mouth at the beginning of the fight. Ninja looked in prime form, and should look for a title shot against Lawler/Smith soon. I suggest a Rua/Villasenor contender match.

Nick Diaz vs  Mushin Corbbrey

I had Diaz the whole time, and he went punch for punch with Corbbrey. Diaz showed that he still has it, and I think it was a great move getting the plastic surgery to remove scar tissue. If he doesn't cut as easy, he has more time in the fights to finish it off.

KJ Noons vs Yves Edwards

WOW. That is all I can really say after this fight. In under a minute KJ Noons backed up everything he said prefight. He said he likes to give the fans their moneys worth, and entertain them, and that is exactly what he did. I can't wait to see this guy fight again.

This card was so much better than the primetime card. I can only hope that Elite XC can deliever more quality fights like this, rather than what we got in the first place, they might have a good shot at rebounding.
