NOTE: THIS ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN SHORTLY BEFORE THE NEWS OF IVERSON RETIRING. IVERSON HAS ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT AND FINALLY PUTS AN END TO HIS GREAT CAREER!

Allen Iverson is a player of many talents and skills. Having the ability to keep a good relationship with a coach isn't one of them. Iverson is a future hall of famer, and probably the best ball handler of all time, but a player has to know when its time to hang it up. Iverson has considered retirement many times, but that hans't seemed to lead into the actual retiring of No 3. Iverson's ego is bigger than his brain, which means he doesn't know when to stop playing. Right now, he should end his career with at least some dignity, because if he keeps up these "I don't get enough minutes—I don't wanna play here" skits then his great career will start to look a lot less great.

A lot of people have written articles on how great the Grizzlies and Iverson were going to do. Well this is the time where the people who didn't believe so get to rub it in all of your faces. Iverson played three games, got angry with his team and left. I don't call that a success.

What most of you don't see is that Iverson is a great player, but he's a selfish player and has certain needs which most teams aren't willing to give to him. For him to be effective he has to have very little support and he has to have the ball in his hands more often than not. When he's surrounded by a more balanced team ie. Detroit, Memphis, then he is an ineffective player. Why do you think he has never won a championship.

Iverson has to make his own decisions in life, but I think most of us would agree that he is out of his prime and should just hang up a great career and save the NBA the headache of him signing with another team. So the next time you see Mr. Iverson, tell him to retire.
