Duke Basketball Improves To 4-0 with Blowout Victory

Denton RamseyNov 23, 2009

Nothing tastes much sweeter than a UNC loss (other than a Duke victory, of course).

For the Cameron Crazies, they got a dose of both this past weekend.

Duke breezed past Radford in a 104-67 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday evening, Nov. 21 (while UNC got rocked by Syracuse the evening before at Madison Square Garden).

Andre Dawkins and Nolan Smith led the Duke scoring onslaught with 20 points apiece, while Miles Plumlee garnered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

“I thought we beat a really good team today,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski told the media following the Blue Devils fourth win of the season. “We shared the ball so well. We had 35 buckets and 25 assists. For our veteran perimeter, each guy had seven assists [each] and only five turnovers [combined]. It was very good. That was one of the reasons we played so well. We connected on passes. We were connecting shots. There was rhythm, a really good rhythm. Andre [Dawkins] coming off and shooting the way he did...he got them all in rhythm. It says a lot for our veteran guys. They got him the ball. I love my team. They are very unselfish, a very unselfish basketball team.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself, Coach.

Heading into Wednesday’s NIT Season Tip-Off Semifinals against Arizona State, the Blue Devils are currently undefeated with a 4-0 record.

And they look to have a very deep and very talented team this season.

Look for the Blue Devils to continue lighting it up from both beyond the arc and in the paint as well.

Go ahead and pencil in Duke for Friday’s NIT title game on ESPN.

Coach K and the Dukies are on a mission to put the Blue Devils back at the top on the college basketball map.
