Milton Bradley: “I’m Tired of People Bringing Me Down”

The sultan of American board games continued his feud with Kansas City Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre, who made some comments that Milton Bradley considered offensive.

If this isn’t the pot calling the kettle black, I’m not sure what is.

Bradley is known for his frequent temper tantrums and run-ins with other players. He has been in at least one altercation with a fan, throwing a water bottle after it landed in the outfield grass. He also tore his ACL last season while with the Padres during an incident with an umpire. To his credit (I guess) I’ve seen the video, as has the rest of America, and it looks like Bradley may have been provoked. The umpire in question was suspended five games, and he did not ump any post-season matchups.

Alright, enough with the Cliff Notes. Fast forward to Wednesday night:

After the Rangers victory against the Royals, Bradley was apparently watching his own at-bat when he heard the comments made by Lefebvre (for the record, I have no idea what was actually said, and several searches on YouTube and Veoh yielded nothing).

Well, upon hearing these comments, Bradley told the media the next day that he wanted to ‘introduce’ himself to Ryan Lefebvre.

According to the articles mentioned above, Bradley was pretty emotional during a press conference:

"I’m tired of people bringing me down, it wears on you. I love you guys, all you guys. I’m strong, but I’m not that strong. All I want to do is play baseball and make a better life for my kid than I had."

Listen, I’m not saying I have a theoretical problem with what Milton Bradley’s reaction. Most people would feel the same way. It’s just really strange. He sort of reminds me of that one friend in your circle who pulls pranks all the time. You know the type: putting worms in your food, making fun of you in public, that sort of thing.

Well, what happens when you finally get him back? He gets all crazy emotional and starts filling your head with the reasons why calling him names has psychological repercussions. Come on Milton, I know people probably called you Monopoly Guy all the time, constantly pushing you and telling you they were “Sorry!”, but this is unbelievable. You crying in a press conference carries about as much weight as Rafael Palmiero’s Congressional testimony.
