Tigers Slay The Wolfpack, All Eyes On The Virginia Game

Matt ElmoreNov 15, 2009

Who would have thought after the Maryland game that the Clemson Tigers would be sitting one win away from heading to Tampa for the first time? I will tell you I was one of the ones who didn’t think it would happen, and I am astonished at the mid-season turn around of this team.

The NC State game was a typical "trap game" we all knew Clemson could win, but the question was could they?

The answer turned out to be yes, but this was more than just a win, it was a statement. A statement saying, "this isn’t the same old tigers." this is another one of the games that Clemson normally comes out flat in, gets pushed around, and ultimately loses. But, "this isn’t the same old tigers."

As I have said in other articles my mind is still in the Bowden era, just waiting on the team to falter, call me Mr. Negativity or what have you, but I'm not the only one. But over these last few games I have allowed myself to believe, believe that Dabo has brought change, believe this team can win, and expect the team to win. I must say I like it, I love having confidence in the team once again. I believe in this coaching staff, and what they are doing with the program.

Now as the dust settles on the NC State game, all eyes turn to Virginia (another "trap game"). But I will say I don’t see this team losing, too much is at stake, and the atmosphere in Death Valley will be electric. It will be the last time spiller wears the number 28 in Clemson orange, and the last time he will perform in the Valley.

This game has a lot of emotion, from the seniors, to the parents watching their kids play the last time in Death Valley. The fans will be fired up, the players will be jacked up, and the coaches will be ready to lay the wood on the Cavaliers.

Tiger fans rejoice, this Saturday (and yes I am making a prediction) the tigers will stamp their ticket to Tampa. With hopefully a sold-out stadium cheering them on as they run down the hill for the final time this season.

I am going to be there, WILL YOU?
