Calhoun and his players are ready to embark on another season that hopefully ends up in the final four.

This season the Connecticut Huskies return a core nucleus of players led by Stanley Robinson, Jerome Dyson, and Kemba Walker.  This trio, along with a core nucleus of freshman hope to provide a combination that leads to success in the Big East.

Tomorrow night, the Huskies officially open up the season against William and Mary.  Calhoun has been impressed with his team's performance in both exhibition games.

Combo guard Jamal Combs-McDaniels is supposed to be cleared for play come Friday night.  This swingman is going to contribute off the bench and provide a spark for this UConn Huskies team on the perimeter and inside.

Stanley Robinson has battled between power forward and his regular small forward early on this season.  Due to both injury and academic issues he has been put in a tough position that benefits the team more then him as an individual.

Both guards Jamal Trice and Darius Smith are expected to battle for playing time behind starting point guard Kemba Walker.

What is exciting most about this UConn team is the potential they hold.  Alex Oriahki is one of the most highly recruited players in recent players.

Many analysts and people compare him to Emeka Okafor.  A high standard to live up to, nonetheless someone that if he was to play at that level would leave tremendous footsteps in the Connecticut basketball program.

Jim Calhoun came back for another season, because he knew the real potential this team holds.  With the recruits coming in and season veterans from years past, this combination calls for great success.

No matter what happens this team is ready to succeed in the 2010 season. With the players and personal in place, UConn basketball is expected to be atop the Big East once again.

Much will depend on the chemistry of this year's team, but with the pieces in place, there is a high likely this team succeeds later on this team.

The Preseason NIT in MSG and a date with Kentucky will be tough early on.  But, in the end it will make the tougher when they are playing the likes of Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

The 2009-2010 Huskies are ready to make a return to the Final Four, if they can remain healthy and come together and gel as a team.

Just look at how last year's team perform down the stretch.

If that's any reason to believe, then this year's team has a significant chance of being that good come April of next year.
