#1 Ohio State
Last Week: #3
Ohio State 48, Kent State 3
The Buckeyes routed Kent State in a developmental game that allowed many non-starters to gain experience.
The special teams made big plays, with Brian Hartline returning a punt for a school-record 90 yards.
The most impressive display came from the Buckeye defense, which held the Golden Flashes to just 62 yards in the air and 161 yards on the ground while forcing two turnovers—both of which led to touchdowns.
Ohio State showed some impressive depth that will help in their test against the MSU Spartans this week.
I’ll say exactly what I said last week: “Now the Buckeyes will have to focus and take their season one game at a time until the November 10th showdown—Illinois @ Ohio St. If the Buckeyes can keep it together and come out victorious on the 10th, they just might have a ticket to the national title game.”
This Week:
Michigan St. @ Ohio State
#2 South Florida
Last Week: #4
South Florida 64, UCF 12
George Selvie, the nation's sack leader, helped an excellent defense shut down the nation's leading rusher, Kevin Smith.
Smith has averaged 172 yards per game—but Selvie and Co. held him to just 55 on 18 carries.
Selvie has 20.5 tackles for a loss and 11.5 sacks in just six games.
Matt Grothe threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to help the Bulls continue their winning streak. With leaders like Selvie and Grothe, this team is a force to be reckoned with.
The Bulls seem to be filling the role of national title contender as if they were ranked in the first week. Wait, didn’t I do that?
The Bulls defense extended its streak of not allowing a 100-yard rusher to 14 games. The last back to break 100 against the Bulls: Ray Rice of Rutgers.
This week the Bulls travel to Rutgers, where Rice hopes to break 100 yards once again. He probably will, but the Bulls can seek consolation in a victory over the Scarlet Knights.
This Week:
South Florida @ Rutgers
#3 Boston College
Last Week: #5
Boston College 27, Notre Dame 14
The Eagles have a fairly easy schedule, which damages their credibility for a national title.
They can enjoy a No. 3 ranking and a bye this week, but I expect them to fall on the road when they face Virginia Tech on the 25th. That said, the Eagles can still win the ACC championship with one loss.
In 1984, BC was ranked as high as fifth as Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie led them to a 10-2 record and a Cotton Bowl win.
Could Matt Ryan pull something similar?

man you're a copycat for the AP and Coaches poll bro
about 1 year ago
If you read my polls each week, you will find that they will have similarities with the AP, Coaches, ESPN fan, BCS, whatever the hell else you want to compare them with. Why? Because not everyone is a crackpot fool who places Oklahoma at the top of their poll.
Oklahoma has one quality win against Missouri and...well we saw how Missouri performed last week. And to give BC the #2 slot is ridiculous, I'll take back my words if they can pull of an impressive victory this week-but expect a loss.
But back to your comment, the only poll I look at is my own from the previous week. Every Monday, after I have collected my information from all the big games, I look at last weeks poll and decide who I will move based on performance, and previous opponent's performances for select teams. Yes my poll is similar to other polls this week because they are right. This week I am closer to the AP then any of my previous polls, but that is just because the voters seem to have gotten it right, or close to it, this week.
I am sorry that you feel Ohio State and South Florida don't deserve such high marks, but I assure you, they do.
