Why All Bengals Fans Should Root For Ohio State This Weekend...

Think about this for a second -- The Ohio State Buckeyes are 8-2 and the Cincinnati Bengals are 6-2.  So what you say?  Well let's take a closer look at a link between this Southern Ohio programs.

The Buckeyes first lost to USC in a game in which they should have won (arguably) on Sept 12.

The following day, The Bengals had a game against the Broncos in hand until the flukiest fluke of all flukes happened and they lost a heart-breaker 13-7 on a miracle TD.  First loss for both teams, same weekend.

Second piece of evidence.  October 18, 2009, The Bucks lose a game in which they absolutely crapped the bed against Purdue.  They were favored to win, and they fell flat.  Pryor was exposed and Tressel-ball woefully blew up in their face.

Next day, the Bengals, who are favored to come out against the schizophrenic Texans and take care of business fall flat on their faces as well.  Their D gots exposed for not being able to cover bubble screens.

There it is -- 2 loses.  When the Bucks lose, the Bengals lose.

But, the good news about this seemingly symbiotic relationship is that when the Buckeyes WIN, so too, do the Bengals (minus Sept 5, when only the Buckeyes played as the NFL season had not kicked off).

That means the 7 other times the Bucks have won (save for Oct. 31 when the Bengals were on a bye), so too have the Bengals.

Which brings us to the present.  Saturday, the Buckeyes take on Iowa for the Big Ten crown.  Huge game with conference supremacy on the line.  Coincidence or not, the following day, the Bengals take on the Steelers for first place in the AFC North and an inside track to the division title (not to mention a home game in the first round of the playoffs).

So as much as Carson Palmer, Rey Rey Malualuga and Keith Rivers despise the Buckeyes, they would be wise to pull for them on Saturday as these two teams seem to be connected at the hip in 2009.

All I can say is, O-H and Who-Dey!
