Fantasy Basketball Box Score Breakouts: Nov. 7, '09

Ryan LesterNov 8, 2009

Before we look at last night's breakout players, click here to check out the upcoming Week Three NBA schedule.

OK, on to last night's games.

Rafer Alston, New Jersey Nets
44 minutes, 20 points, 7-16 FG, 3-4 FT, 3 three-pointers, 1 rebound, 7 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 6 turnovers

With the Nets dealing with serious injuries, including starting PG Devin Harris for a couple of weeks, Alston makes a great temporary addition.

Jose Juan Barea, Dallas Mavericks
24 minutes, 4 points, 2-6 FG, 3 rebounds, 12 assists, 1 turnover

JJB is basketball’s version of a handcuff. If Jason Kidd ever went down, he’d pile up the assists. Unfortunately, with Kidd healthy, outburst like this are not the norm.

Toney Douglas, New York Knicks
17 minutes, 16 points, 6-9 FG, 4 three-pointers, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover

Douglas had six points going into tonight’s game. The Knicks got worked over by Milwaukee. Don’t expect a repeat performance any time soon.

Jodie Meeks, Milwaukee Bucks
27 minutes, 19 points, 7-11 FG, 5 three-pointers, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover

You know he can score if given the opportunity. Michael Redd’s injury opened the door for more playing time, but we’ll have to see if he can carve out any fantasy value.

Tyreke Evans, Sacramento Kings
43 minutes, 32 points, 7-15 FG, 16-19 FT, 2 three-pointers, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers

With Kevin Martin out, Evans did his best impersonation. He can establish himself as the player to beat in the Rookie of the Year race.

Craig Smith, Los Angeles Clippers
22 minutes, 18 points, 8-11 FG, 1-2 FT, 1 three-pointer, 5 rebounds, 1 assists, 2 steals, 1 turnover

Smith is just far too inconsistent to worry about.

Rasual Butler, Los Angeles Clippers
39 minutes, 17 points, 6-17 FG, 3-5 FT, 2 three-pointers, 7 rebounds, 1 assist

With the Clippers’ injuries, Butler is a decent option in daily leagues. He’s too inconsistent for weekly ones.
