I am struggling to define what Eddie House's role on this team is. I realize everything is far from being squared away yet, and the team is still a masterpiece in process. One thing I do know, however, is that we do not want Eddie House to bring the ball up and be forced to run the offense.
It has nothing to do with whether or not he can do it. What I am concerned about is when he has to focus so much on being a point guard, that he can't find a place to spot up and shoot. He is the player we need running around the court, coming off screens trying to get an open look. He needs the ball delivered to him.
While on the court in last nights game, he was playing with Marquis Daniels. That sounds fine, the only problem is Daniels wasn't the one bringing the ball up. In 11 minutes on the court last night, House got up 3 shots, one of which was one he created by dribbling around. He finished with zero points.
Eddie is not a shot creator. He can not make his own shot by dribbling around and driving to the basket. I would say his max dribbling before shooting is 2 dribbles to get himself around the screen. The major arguement I have is that we are not using him the way we KNOW he can help the team. We know he can help the team when he gets shots up in bunches. The best way to do that- have someone get him the ball in rhythm.
I know I am not the coach so Doc probably has reasoning. I also understand it is very early in the season, and I know for a fact we will see another Eddie House lights out game before even the end of this month. I just question the effectiveness of House ever being the floor general.
