Let's Rank 'Em!: The Top 25 NCAA Running Backs Entering Week Ten

Ryan Mathews remains my top running back in the country for obvious reasons. He averages 7.3 yards per carry, he's crossed the end zone 11 times already, and also averages over 160 rushing yards per game. These are pretty good numbers for a guy who possibly plays the the lest popular team in the state of California. Here's how I see the NCAA's top 25 running backs entering week ten of action:

 

1. Ryan Mathews (Fresno State): 179 carries, 1,316 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns

2. Bernard Pierce (Temple): 164 carries, 1,033 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns

3. Darius Marshall (Marshall): 196 carries, 1,032 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns

4. Toby Gerhart (Stanford): 195 carries, 994 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns

5. Dion Lewis (Pittsburgh): 185 carries, 1,029 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns

6. Lance Dunbar (North Texas): 127 carries, 961 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns

7. Ben Tate (Auburn): 193 carries, 1,067 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns

8. Mark Ingram (Alabama): 153 carries, 1,004 rushing yards, 8 touchdowns

9. Anthony Dixon (Mississippi State): 182 carries, 1,001 rushing yards, 9 touchdowns

10. Noel Devine (West Virginia): 154 carries, 954 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns

11. Donald Buckram (UTEP): 150 carries, 947 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns

12. Montel Harris (Boston College): 183 carries, 930 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns

13. Jacquizz Rodgers (Oregon State): 172 carries, 922 rushing yards, 14 touchdowns

14. Ryan Williams (Virginia Tech): 163 carries, 930 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns
