The Houston Texans received a huge blow to their offense, losing star tight end Owen Daniels to an ACL injury, effectively ending his season.
Daniels was already a highly regarded tight end, but was quickly moving into elite status, both in the NFL, and in the minds of fantasy experts everywhere. Daniels had already registered 40 catches and five touchdowns through the mid-way point of the season, and was well on his way to career numbers.
However, despite the sad loss of an elite player, the Texans could finally get a peek in what they have in the versatile Rice product, James Casey . Casey will be rehabbing from his own knee injury, but should be able to take a crack at replacing Daniels in the passing game around Week 11.
No other Houston tight end figures to have much fantasy value, as they are primarily blocking specialists and don't possess the athleticism and play-making ability that Daniels had or Casey can bring to the table.
Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones could see their looks increase tremendously in the coming weeks. Stay on top of Casey's status for the next two to three weeks and check back with NFL Soup to see if he'd be a sound addition to your roster.
