So I am at the Gym this morning,  6 AM on a Sunday in Chicago and people are walking up to me "Can you believe it".  In Chicago there are lots of Iowa Hawkeyes and we are all suffering form weekly cardiac arrest because that is the only way Iowa knows how to win.

After come from behind fourth quarter wins against Northern Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan State here we stand with a rough and tumble team that is 9-0. It i fitting that Iowa won at Kinnick yesterday for another reason. Legendary Iowa Coach Forest Evashevski died yesterday.  Coach Ev lead Iowa to its only national championship in 1958 and three Rose Bowl wins so perhaps his spirit along with Nile Kinnick's will continue to bless our Hawks.

Anyway. it appears that Iowa will continue to win.  There is momentum in this team that I have not seen in an Iowa squad in my lifetime.  Even the 1985 Hawkeyes the best team we have ever had was more of a power team.  This is a lucky team with players who work really hard and get results.

While it would be great to play for a National Championship there is a part of me who wants to play Oregon in the Rose Bowl and do it old school.  The fact is I do not have much patience for Texas or Florida (or USC before they lost).  They play pro football with students but Schools like Oregon and Iowa play college football which means that anything can happen.

So we take our blood pressure medicine and wait for Northwestern next week.  We hope that Penn State loses to Ohio State so that we can go to Columbus and avenge the defeat of the #1 Iowa Hawkeyes in 1985 with a win in Ohio Stadium- Lets hope that Forest Eveshevski's ghost can beat Woody Hayes's
