Memphis used a big fourth quarter to speed past the Toronto Raptors, 115-108 at FedEx Forum Friday night.
The
Grizzlies (1-1) bounced back from a blowout loss to
Detroit on Wednesday with a 39-point fourth quarter and a strong game by their front court.
Forward Zach Randolph scored 30 points to lead six Grizzlies in double figures. Center Marc Gasol added 19 points for Memphis. O.J. Mayo had 18 points and Rudy Gay ended with 17 points.
Point guard Mike Conley had 10 points and 10 assists. DeMarre Carroll came off the bench and scored 12 points in 32 minutes.
Toronto center
Chris Bosh scored 37 points and had 12 rebounds as the Raptors fell to 1-1.
This was a close game for the first three quarters. Toronto did go on a mini-run late in the third quarter. With the game tied 76-76, they went on a 12-4 run to go up 88-80 with about 10 minutes left in the game.
Memphis stormed back, took the lead, and put away the game. The Grizzlies will be leaving on a five-game swing on the West Coast beginning Sunday night in
Denver.
It continues with games against
Sacramento, Golden State, and two games in Los Angeles against the
Lakers and
Clippers before coming back to Memphis on Nov. 10 for a game against
Portland.
