FERGIE MUST OPEN THE CHEQUEBOOK VERY SOON!

Fergie was too slow to spend money last summer... and now he has problems with his team's balance and effectiveness (and injuries).

He must spend spend spend, and very soon, if he does not wish to see United's title hopes fade away this year. His midfield is struggling, and now he has defensive problems, plus also needing a goalkeeper.

To my mind the most urgent requirement is someone like David Silva as a creative midfielder, alongside Fletcher, will give a good balance. Rooney and Berbatov up front with wing men Valencia and Giggs (soon to be replaced by Obertan I suspect) - not forgetting Owen as back-up in attack will complete the formation, and hence take pressure off the defence. Also pressing for places are Wellbeck and Macheda.

In the past Ronaldo's foraging runs up front took plenty of pressure of United's defence. They must now create an equally threatening structure to do it again, and this time based on 6 players (not one like before). Real Madrid are now realising their defence is pressured whenever Ronaldo is absent.

The partnership of Evans and Vidic at the back are more than capable, especially if they are paired more often (Ferdinand is on his way out I'm sorry to say).

Evra is world class, untouchable in every way... leaving Wes Brown, Rafael and Gary Neville to fight for the right-back position.

And so that only leaves a goalkeeper to replace... which shouldn't be too hard to find when you have millions in the bank... but money in the bank is useless if you're too tight to spend it. Come on Fergie... get out your chequebook! You only need to spend about 45 million and United will be unbeatable again!
