Roddy Piper Gets Rowdy On "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"

Last night, I came home and looked at my DVR to see what was there to watch before turning in for the night.

Let's see, theres TNA, the Office, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, Community, (I know, I like NBC), and then I saw it and said aloud "Holy Shit, Roddy Piper is on Always Sunny!" and decided that the first thing I should watch was The Hot Rod.

I have loved this show since the first episode and I have read rumors going around that the cast may host Monday Night Raw sometime in the near future, but I never knew they had Roddy in an episode.

I watched as The Rowdy One fought a hardcore style match in the first few minutes of the show and I got emotional about better times in wrestling.

His performance was similar to that of Mickey Rourke in the Wrestler, a broken down, homeless wrestler who was past his prime, and his bank balance, as was evident by a phone call bitching about a $15 overcharge.

He did a great job of being a very creepy guy outside the ring, doing things like autograph a parking ticket.

The best part of the episode was when he was about to start training them and he had to go "Oil up" before they got started, Danny Devito then busts in the scene with a trash can proclaiming himself The Trashman, then he eats an apple core from the garbage and began choking.

If Danny Devito isn't the funniest mother fucker on TV, then I dont know who is.  The end match went on without The Hot Rod as they showed him being arrested outside the "arena" for unpaid parking tickets.

The B story of Dee wanting to date a war vet took a backseat to the backyard wrestling antics of the Sunny crew, or as they should be called from now on, The Birds of War.  By the way, their entrance music was great.

Overall this is easily my favorite television appearance by a wrestler since Bret Hart did his voice on The Simpsons. Roddy was funny, and he looked to be in good physical health.

An interview came out earlier today where Roddy denied the cancer rumors and I hope to god that he is right because I think the guy could have a great career in comedy.

He is well known and loved world wide, and lets face it, there hasn't been a more outrageous, in your face personality in wrestling since him.
