Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool Carling Cup 4th Round: Player Ratings

Arsenal reached the Quarter-Finals of the Carling Cup for the seventh successive season with a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

starting with Arsenal :

1.Lukasz Fabianski - 6 of 10 - He really made some nice saves, but was not able to stop Emiliano Insua's fluke equalizer (according to me, as the strike he made was not anything extraordinary even I can score like that) going in the goal. The even worse thing is he injured himself during the game.

2.Kerrea Gilbert - 5 of 10 - A new face in Arsenal's squad, did impress me with his tackles. He will need a few more games to show us what he is made off.

3.Philippe Senderos - 8 of 10 - Impressive defending by the Swiss defender. Made a great partnership with Mikael Silvestre. This is what Arsenal need, a defender who stays at the back not dribble along with everyone to score goals. He is a bit slow but very strong as a defender.

4.Mikael Silvestre - 7 of 10 - As I said earlier made a great center-back partnership with Senderos. He also captained the Arsenal squad.

5.Kieran Gibbs - 8 of 10 - A bright future certainly lies ahead of him. Great defending and superb dribbling makes him a perfect left-back. His sliding tackles and crosses were also good. Has to be quick to get back when the other team attacks.

6.Fran Merida - 8 of 10 - The young Spainiard certainly has class. Bulleted an impressive shot to give Arsenal the lead. His short passing is awesome and that is what makes him a perfect midfielder.

7.Craig Eastmond -6 of 10 - Another new face in the Arsenal squad. Sometimes slid in for the ball which is a good thing.

8.Aaron Ramsey - 6 of 10 - I expected much more from what came from him. He has to pass the ball quickly. Some moves he made were fantastic but wasn't able to impress.

9.Eduardo - 6 of 10 - Dribbles so well but should have tried to score with first touches.

10. Samir Nasri - 7 of 10 - Again great dribbling by the French midfielder. He supports the strikers very well. A goal or at least an assist would had highlighted his performance.

11. Nicklas Bendtner - 7 of 10 - He needs to improve his passing. Else is really good. He got a 7 just because he scored a goal.

Subs Used:

12.Mark Randall - 5 of 10 - Tried to make some moves. Didn't see him much.

13.Sanchez Watt - 5 of 10 - From what I've heard of him he should have scored at least a goal. Else looked good.

14.Francis Coquelin - 4 of 10 - Does well in keeping the ball.

Liverpool:

1.Diego Cavalieri - 5 of 10 - Whole of the game he had a confused look on his face. His movements were all like of Pepe Reina.

2.Philipp Degen - 6 of 10 - He did play good, tackled well and was quick enough.

3.Sotirios Kyrgiakos - 6 of 10 - If he'd been a blonde I won't be able to differentiate between him and Voronin. Played good, constantly supporting other players.

4.Martin Skrtel - 8 of 10 - The "MAN" in Liverpool's squad. Defended very well, maybe if he'd not been playing Arsenal would've surely won with a greater goal difference.

5.Emiliano Insua - 7 of 10 - Good defending and a great fluke goal too. He is a good player I do not have to remind anyone of it.

6.Jay Spearing - 6 of 10 - He played good even had some chances on goal.

7.Damien Plessis - 5 of 10 - He made a great partnership with Spearing always supporting each other.

8.Ryan Babel - 7 of 10 - Impressive performance. His attacks did worry me and Fabianski.

9.Andriy Voronin - 7 of 10 - I don't know why people call him a striker. He passes good. He has to be a midfielder. His corners were good too. It'll be good for him if he improves his finishing. If his hair would've been brown, I would mistake him to be Kyrgiakos.

10.Dirk Kuyt - 7 of 10 - He was not attacking much which he does very well. Maybe being the captain he had to more defensive.

11.David Ngog - 7 of 10 - Good partnership with Voronin they should've grabbed a goal.

Subs Used:

12.Yossi Benayoun - 6 of 10 - If he'd had come a little earlier, Liverpool might have got a goal.

13.Alberto Aquilani - 5 of 10 - He would've impressed me if he'd come a little earlier. When he runs he looks like a 6 feet tall girl.

14.Nathan Eccleston - 4 of 10 - He came for a very short time, I didn't notice him quite much.

Note: Sorry for the delay......
