With My Son on the Way, Baylor Bears Destined for First Conference Win

Eventually, I am sure the Baylor Bears will pick up a win in conference play.

My hope and prayer is for a Halloween victory when Baylor hosts Nebraska.

With my son about to be born any day now, getting that first Big 12 W would be a great way to welcome Charlie into this world.

I may be superstitious, and it very well may be from spending the past 10-plus years around a bunch of athletes, but I believe my life and sports are tied together.

The day my daughter, Isabel, was born (on March 25, 2007), UNC lost in their March Madness match-up, ending the Tarheels dreams for a title that season.

It may be a stretch, but we’ll wait and see how this weekend play out.

However, I digress.

We’re here to talk about Baylor football and this weekend’s game with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, right?

I say it every week, but the beauty of college sports is that the underdog always has a chance to win.

Baylor hasn’t proved that to be true yet this season, but there are still plenty of games to be played.

Art Briles and the Bears coaching staff have been working with the team this week on making the adjustments needed to pick up that first conference victory.

And obviously, as always, it’s really up to the players on the team to execute the coach’s game plan.

The Baylor Bears backs are against the wall, but Briles’ bunch can still come out on top.

It all begins with getting that first win and gaining the momentum needed to be successful in the extremely competitive Big 12 Conference.

Let’s break out the ghosts and goblins if that’s what it takes.

Come Halloween Saturday, it’s time for Baylor to finally pick up that much-needed win at Floyd Casey Stadium.

Plus, with Charlie on the way, the Bears are bound to win.

Right?
