After 500 miles at the Martinsville bullring, Jimmie Johnson's dominance has come to an end at least for this week.
Johnson entered the weekend looking for his third straight win and seventh at Martinsville, but came up short behind Virginia native Denny Hamlin.
Johnson did however, extend his point lead.
Hamlin, the popular pick by our Creatures, dominated the day and gave a win to the first three creatures in points. What that means is that the points heading into next weekend stay exactly the same for them.
Throughout the rest of the standings the gap was narrowed with just four races remaining and here's how everyone stacks up heading into Talladega.
Ben Bomberger (6,013 ) Denny Hamlin won (4 )
Mary Jo Buchanan (-27 ) Denny Hamlin won (2 )
Kara Martin (-28 ) Denny Hamlin won (4 )
