Arsenal

Coming into this West Ham vs Arsenal clash, a draw with AZ on Tuesday night in the Champions League has dampened the mood on what has otherwise been an enjoyable month for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s men looked to have another three points wrapped up before a 90th minute equaliser by David Mendes Da Silva secured a point for AZ in a match Arsenal really should have won.

Still, the draw will not do too much to derail Arsenal’s efforts to reach the knockout stage of the Chmapions League as the Gunners still sit top of the group in a comfortable position.

In the Premier League, things are still nice and rosy. Wenger’s men have been in a scoring mood lately having found the back of the net no less than a combined nine times in their previous two matches.

Theo Walcott’s injury woes are one of the only concerns for the Gunners coming into this West Ham v Arsenal fixture at the moment, as the England international could be ruled out for up to one month with a knee injury after only just returning for the club.

West Ham

West Ham have plummeted towards the bottom of the Premier League and after an opening day victory over Wolves, the Hammers have been unable to record a win.

Manager Gianfranco Zola has made a number of changes to try to solve West Ham’s troubles in attack, but is yet to discover a winning remedy ahead of this Arsenal - West Ham match.

Matthew Upson and Carlton Cole have been the few rays of light for Gianfranco Zola this season as the rest of the team has looked very bland.

Squandering leads and at times simply giving up the midfield to opposing teams, West Ham will have to find an answer soon if they wish to avoid being pulled into a relegation battle.

To make matters worse, the dismal financial situation at the club has caused reason of real concern for the future of the club.

All in all, things are not looking good for the Hammers as they play hosts in this Arsenal v West Ham fixture.

Prediction

The two Arsenal v West Ham fixtures last season saw the Hammers fail to score on both occasions. The West Ham vs Arsenal fixture at Upton Park finished 2-0 in the Gunners favour.

Luckily for the Hammers, however, was the fact that in the Arsenal - West Ham match at Emirates Stadium, the Gunners failed to score as well and the match finished 0-0.

Another draw is unlikely to be in the cards on Sunday, as Arsenal have been scoring goals at will lately and will enter this match as confident favourites, in spite of their midweek hiccup.
