Barcelona Transfer News: Josep Maria Bartomeu Fuels Antoine Griezmann Rumours

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has fuelled speculation over a summer move for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann with his latest comments.

He told radio station RAC 1 (h/t Goal's Joe Wright): "I saw Griezmann one day on holiday. We met with his agent, yes. It was in October. We talk with [Atletico president Enrique] Cerezo about many topics. We have a good relationship with them."

Griezmann has said he does not know if he will be an Atletico player next season and will talk to the club amid interest from Barcelona, according to ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan.

It's easy to see why Barcelona would be interested in Griezmann as he is a proven goalscorer in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. He has 27 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season for Atleti.

The 27-year-old is a versatile player capable of playing across the attack but could also be used as a direct replacement for Suarez. The Uruguayan will turn 32 in January and is heading towards the end of his Camp Nou career.
