MADRID, SPAIN - OCTOBER 21: Real Madrid players pose for a team photo prior to the start of the Champions League group C match between Real Madrid and AC Milan at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on October 21, 2009 in Madrid, Spain. AC Milan won the match 3-2. (Photo by Jasper Juinen/Getty Images)

Now that we return to La Liga it is time we try something new.A stratergy that could better support us in this time of Ronaldo-less ness.
We usually line up like this(when CR9 is there)

Ramos                   Pepe                                            Albiol              Marcelo

                                       Lass/Diarra                 Alonso

Ronaldo                                                                                            Kaka

                                                          ." point x"
                                                 Raul                     Benz                 ."point y"

The problem here is that Kaka often moves to point "x" while as a result Bez goes to point "y".
Ronaldo bombs  down the right flank and Ramos doent have to press to much forward and he does a fine job.Marcelo is often exposed when Kaka moves in and bombs down the flank. This leaves the Left flank exposed and Iker susceptible from the Left side.

The last time around against Milan we lined up like this:
Ramos                   Pepe                                            Albiol              Marcelo

                                       Lass                     Alonso

Kaka                                                                                             Granero

                                                 Raul                     Benz

Kaka again went into the middle and left the right exposed.Ramos tried to bomb and like the last year left us exposed.Lass tried to cover up in the first half but got ambitious in the rest of the game and hence we got susceptible there.Granero played well but he to tended to go to the Middle and left side was again susceptible. Also benzema lacked the guy who could recieve his back flicks someone with speed like CR9 or maybe Higuain. Then Granero was removed. He was clearly our best player. We lacked pace. And top of it we played with an "injured" Benzema.Clearly his pace showed it.

For tomorrow,I would like to suggest an experimental line up and hae your views on it..

We have this squad actually:
Goalkeepers: Casillas, Dudek
Defenders: Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Drenthe, Albiol, Garay, Metzelder
Midfielders: Gago, Diarra, Kaka, Guti, Xabi Alonso, Van der Vaart, Granero
Forwards: Raul, Acuna

Ramos                   Pepe                                            Albiol              Drenthe

                           Diarra                   Xabi                       Marcelo

We need Kaka in the center behind Raul.Granero acts as the link between Kaka and Alonso and also moves to the wings.Marclo can bomb up and down with Drenthe at LB or they can swap positions as the play goes on.Ramos can move up too with Diarra sliding into his place and stoppping attacks down into right.Pepe and Albiol need to stay put.Raul can go wherever he likes in the game and position himself according to the game and if we were up by 2 goals around the 70th minute we can actually put Acuna into the field depending on the mach state.Alternatively we could mybe either get Arbeloa at RB and get Ramos RWM and line up 4-2-2-2 with Drenthe as LB and Marclo as LWM like last year. Then maybe Granero wont make the cut but he can still come on as a sub along with guti who plays well in these kind of situations. We may alternatively put Arbeloa at LB and Marcelo at  LWM. and Granero at RWM with Kaka behind Raul which will have a better shape but might expose the right when Ramos bombs up and down.

Whatever happens we need to sit and pray CR9 gets well soon.Hoping to hear from you....
