Goldberg on Possible Hulk Hogan Return to WWE: 'Everybody Deserves a 2nd Chance'

Joseph ZuckerApr 25, 2018

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg advocated for Hulk Hogan's return to WWE after the company excommunicated him in 2015.

Goldberg discussed the issue on the In This Corner podcast with CBS Sports' Brian Campbell:

"I think everybody deserves a second chance. I think you put [Hogan] in the locker room and give him the floor and let him speak his mind. That's what he deserves. Who knows what happens from there but it's not for me to say by any means. I can just give you my opinion and say that he deserves the floor and who knows where it goes from there."

WWE terminated its relationship with Hogan after racist comments he made were unearthed and posted online when his sex tape was leaked online. Not only is Hogan no longer employed by WWE, but the company also ceased making any subsequent reference to his career online or during television programming.

Recently, though, Hogan has received some support from his former colleagues.

In addition to Goldberg, Ric Flair told TMZ Sports in February he and other wrestling legends are optimistic WWE will bring Hogan back into the fold.

Hogan was also heavily featured in HBO's Andre the Giant documentary, for which WWE had a producing credit and allowed the use of archival footage including Hogan.

Former world champion Mark Henry approached the subject during an interview on SiriusXM's Busted Open Radio. Henry said he had spoken with a number of African American wrestlers, the majority of whom said Hogan still needs to make amends—such as engaging with community service efforts—before they'd feel comfortable with him in WWE again:

PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson reported in March that WWE was in negotiations with Hogan ahead of a potential comeback and that it was unclear what kind of role within the company Hogan would occupy.

WWE released a statement to Johnson, saying the company "has had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes" but hasn't formally signed him to another contract.
