WWE's Mark Henry Retired but Doesn't Rule out Return for 'Perfect Circumstance'
Ahead of his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in April, Mark Henry said Sunday that a return to the ring is possible in the future.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, the World's Strongest Man suggested that he is retired for now, although it isn't necessarily permanent:
"I can't rule out a year or two, but right now it's a no," Henry said. "I'm not trying to get in there. If it was a perfect circumstance and something happened down the road, yeah. But this year, next year? You can put it out of your mind."
The 46-year-old has been part of WWE since signing with the company in 1996.
Henry, a former Olympic weightlifter, enjoyed a fruitful WWE career as a world heavyweight champion, ECW champion and European champion.
His in-ring schedule has been much lighter in recent years, and he competed in just three matches last year, including the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33.
In-ring returns aren't unprecedented for Hall of Famers, as Kurt Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year before eventually going on to compete at the TLC pay-per-view.
Angle will team with Ronda Rousey to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34, two nights after Henry becomes a Hall of Famer.
