Rey Mysterio Appears at NJPW Style Evolved, Says He'll Wrestle for New Japan
A bicep injury may have prevented Rey Mysterio Jr. from competing at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Strong Style Evolved show on Sunday night, but the former world champion made a brief appearance at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.
Mysterio shared a photo on Instagram with Jushin "Thunder" Liger, who was supposed to be his opponent Sunday. In the caption, Mysterio wrote, "I owe you this match!":
IWGP junior heavyweight champion Will Ospreay offered Mysterio a shot at the belt when he's healthy again, but Mysterio's attention may be diverted when he returns to the ring. Marty Scurll attacked Mysterio and stole his mask.

Mysterio will likely want to resolve his unfinished business with Scurll before he moves on to Ospreay.
At the very least, Mysterio's comments would seemingly rule out a WWE comeback for the time being. Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer (h/t Wrestling Inc's Raj Giri) reported earlier in March WWE and Mysterio had been discussing a contract.
Mysterio was the No. 27 entrant in the 2018 Royal Rumble and lasted nine minutes, 39 seconds before being eliminated by Finn Balor.
