Richard Sherman Trade Rumors: Seahawks Exploring Options to Move CB
Facing big roster decisions this offseason, the Seattle Seahawks will reportedly look into trade options for cornerback Richard Sherman.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Sherman and the Seahawks met on Wednesday with the team deciding it would explore trades for the four-time Pro Bowler.
Rapoport added there's also the possibility Seattle could release Sherman, or they could keep him in 2018 at a reduced salary.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported a trade "doesn't look good" because teams figure Sherman will be cut.
Per Gee Scott of 97.3 KIRO FM, Sherman noted he isn't pushing to be traded and "would prefer to start over if released" by the Seahawks.
The Seahawks have already begun the process of tearing down their roster after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported defensive end Michael Bennett will be traded to the Philadephia Eagles.
Per Over the Cap, Seattle was projected to have $13.1 million in cap space available before the reported deal involving Bennett. Sherman will count $13.2 million against the cap in 2018.
A seven-year veteran, Sherman has spent his entire career with the Seahawks and leads the NFL with 32 interceptions since 2011. The 29-year-old appeared in 105 straight games before a ruptured Achilles against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10 ended his 2017 season prematurely.
