Arsenal looked to have secured their third win of the their Champions League group stage when they were 1-0 up with seconds to go, but a late free kick swung into the box and agonizingly it was met by AZ Alkmaar's David Mendes da Silva who struck the ball solidly into the back of the net to ensure the Dutch side snatched a point from the tense encounter.

Arsenal remain top of their group but Olympiakos are breathing down their neck just one point behind Wenger's men.

Player Ratings

Vito Mannone: 6.5: Many felt Manuel Almunia would start but the Arsene Wenger remained with the talented Italian in goal. Rarely bothered throughout the game and could do nothing about the goal.

Bacary Sagna: 6.5: The right was kept relatively tidy thanks to the Frenchmen. Worked well with Eboue in defence and attack.

William Gallas: 6.5: Strong when called upon but could of done better to prevent an AZ Alkmaar equalizer.

Thomas Vermaelen: 7: Strong when called upon and solid in the air. Half expected him to engrave his name on the score sheet but it did not happen.

Gael Clichy: 6: Wasn't too badly troubled down the left and could go forward when necessary.

Alexandre Song: 8: Another strong performance from the Cameroonian. Cut down the midfield threats from the Dutch side and also played in a few, easy on the eye passes which caused a few problems.

Emmanuel Eboue: 7: Solid from the Ivorian. Heavily involved in the Arsenal attack and his pace did look to be a threat but you can't help feel should Wenger be playing the likes of Merida or Wilshere instead of the natural African defender.

Abou Diaby: 6: Almost Deja Vu as the Frenchmen looked to have headed the ball into his own net. Made his presence felt but could not create any real chances.

Cesc Fabregas: 7: Scored and performed well. Created plays and ordered his troops around the paddock.

Andrei Arshavin: 8: As per usual a constant threat with the ball at his feet, had a hand with the goal and caused handfuls for the Dutch.

Robin van Persie: 7.5: A lovely ball ensured Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal got on the score sheet and was always troublesome and dangerous when in the box.

Substitues

Carlos Vela: 5.5: A rare opportunity for the Mexican but sadly did not wow anyone. Was unlucky not to have a penalty late on.

Aaron Ramsey: N/A:
