Detroit Pistons: 2009-2010 They Will Be A Better Team
Enough Already.
I've had enough of so called basketball experts saying, "Oh... What a great move by Joe Dumars bringing in Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva but, can they play defense?"
Yes they can. And they will. Eventually.
I say that cause the Detroit Pistons over the years have been known for their gritty, tough, in your face defense and their style is basically, you're going down to the floor after you take the ball to the hoop.
That won't happen over night for Gordon and Villanueva.
Both are known as shoot first and defense later. They will have to play defense for this team to be successful this upcoming season. And of course, add their combined career point averages ( Ben's 14.5 and Charlie's 13.4) will help the other side of the ball.
Richard "Rip" Hamilton in season ten and Rodney Stuckey will have to step their games up.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this Pistons 2009-2010 season.
It doesn't mean I think they'll win 20 games and it doesn't mean I think their going to win 62 games.
I'm just not ready to call them World Champs this season.
Right in the middle of playoff picture.
I'd like to see more time on the court for Chris Wilcox and Ben Wallace. Helping out with rebounds and and some defense when Villanueva and Kwame Brown take a break.
I'd like to see more from first round draft pick Austin Daye and second round picks Dejuan Summers and Jonas Jerebko.
And please will Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander get some more muscle on Mr. Daye.
I've seen popsickle sticks with more size than Austin. A good all season long trip to the weight room will help.
Rip Hamilton will lead this team in scoring.
It is my belief, maybe I'm just crazy, but Joe Dumars has made enough moves to make this a respectable team.
I believe Charlie Villanueva will be a force down below the basket. A good tutoring job by Ben Wallace will also help.
The addition of Villanueva, Gordon and Daye will help score more points.
The Pistons will allow more points scored.
The new coach John Kuester will handle tricky situations during this season a lot better than Michael Curry did. Coach Kuester doesn't have all the drama as Curry did last season but, he has the task of keeping the Detroit Pistons from slipping from the middle of the Eastern Conference, which is where I am predicting them to be.
