Taking a Look at How Far WWE's Legacy Has Come

Juan Correspondent IOctober 18, 2009

On June 29, 2008, at Night of Champions, we saw the debut of Priceless—a tag team comprising of Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes.

Today, they are known as 'The Legacy' along with Randy Orton. It's been more than a year since they've teamed up. They've done more than other superstars could hope for. They've impressed many. They've got a taste of being in the main event.

Let's look at how far they've come during their time together.

When Cody Rhodes first started out, he was already involved in a storyline with Randy Orton and his father, Dusty Rhodes. Then, he was in a rivalry with The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin), and Daivari.

After being the victor of that rivalry, he was in a feud with Hardcore Holly, only to end up being his partner in the end. They had even been the Tag Team Champs.

They weren't cared for much. They didn't do much that took the notice of the fans. They hadn't done anything to really impress anyone.

If you asked someone if they had a chance of being in the main event, that someone would just laugh in your face.

But then came the debut of Ted DiBiase Jr. He claimed to take away their tag team gold with a secret partner. This itself made everyone interested.

Who will the son of the Million Dollar Man team up with? Who is his almighty partner that together they can be the tag team champions?

The answer soon came at Night Of Champions 2008. This was when the secret partner would be revealed.

To the shock of all watching, that partner was none other than Cody Rhodes, who betrayed his now former partner, Hardcore Holly.

Teaming up with Ted, he was finally noticed, while Holly was soon forgotten.

They reigned as the tag team champs for a while until they lost it to Kofi Kingston and CM Punk, never to get them back again.

In the middle of all this, a new stable was slowly forming. 'Legacy,' they were called. A group with Randy Orton as the leader. A group where everyone was a second-generation star. A group where the young ones would get a chance to shine.

Ted DiBiase, Manu, Cody Rhodes and Sim Snuka were all tested to see who deserved to be a part of it. In the end, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase survived.

Soon they were involved with Randy Orton's feuds, serving as almost mere henchmen, doing his dirtywork.

We could not see the future main eventers in them. They were almost unnoticed as the main focus was on Randy Orton and his rivalry with the McMahons, Triple H and Batista.

Then, DX arrived. They had re-united to battle with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, who by now had an awesome, new theme song rather than come out to Orton's theme.

Rhodes and DiBiase were no longer Orton's henchmen. They were no longer by his sides all the time.

If someone said the word 'Legacy,' no longer does Randy Orton come to their mind first. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase do.

The 'IT' was found in them. They had 'it.' They had that potential. It was finally revealed.

Cody's leadership qualities were revealed during their matches with DX. Ted showed what he could do just by himself.

They had done more than the average new guys, by main eventing PPVs, and aligning themselves with Orton.

Now they have showed us why they were worthy enough to have done so.

Please don't misunderstand me. I do not think they are the best ever. They aren't as awesome as some of the mid-carders today.

But they have showed us how well they can wrestle. How well they can talk on the mic. I loved what they did with DX—the wrestling, the awesome promos, everything.

They were almost reborn from what they were earlier in the year.

Soon it seems that Ted DiBiase will break away from Cody and Randy. It seems that he will go on his own path, giving us a chance to see what he can do alone, giving us a glimpse into his future.

Maybe this can also be Cody's chance. But maybe, Legacy will not be broken at all. Some of us fans have forgotten that Brett DiBiase was involved at Summerslam with Randy and Cena's match.

Maybe it's time for Brett to come back and stay, maybe on Ted's side, maybe on Randy's side.

Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes have come up a long way, from being permanent mid-carders to potential main-eventers.

Right now, there's no answer as to who is the superior one. But it is only their beginning, and we will find out soon enough.
