College Football: 2008's Must-See College Football Games
With less than 100 days before the start of the 2008 college football season, stadiums are selling out and hotels are being booked as fans prepare for the biggest games of the year.
A new season is in hand and there’s no room for any mistakes. Big games abound throughout the country—two teams ready for battle, both reaching for the chance to win a National Championship.
Over the next ten weeks I will be ranking the top ten must-see games of this college football season. I will also be giving my predictions on who will win. There are teams from every major conference.
Here are the must-see games of this college football season.
LSU vs. UGA
In this series LSU leads 14-11 with one tie. This game will be played on October 25 in Baton Rouge at Tiger Stadium. The last time these two teams met UGA won 34-14.
USC vs. Ohio St.
In this series USC leads 11-9 with one tie. This game will be played on September 13 in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The last time these two cross-country teams met, USC won 35-26. The only way Ohio St. got in this article is because they are playing USC.
West Virginia vs. Auburn
This is the first time that these two teams will ever face off. This game will be played on October 23 in Morgantown at Milan Puskar Stadium. This game will be aired on ESPN as a Thursday night primetime game.
Oklahoma vs. Texas
The Red River Shootout—in this series Texas leads 57-40 with five ties. This game will be played on October 11 in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. The last time these two foes met, Oklahoma won 28-21.
Clemson vs. Alabama
In this series Alabama leads 11-3. This game will be played on August 30 in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. The last time these two teams met, Alabama won 56-0.
Nebraska vs. Virginia Tech
In this series Nebraska leads 1-0. This game will be played on September 27 in Lincoln at Memorial Stadium. The last time these two teams met, Nebraska won 41-21.
Auburn vs. Tennessee
In this series Auburn leads 25-21 with three ties. This game will be played on September 27 in Auburn at Jordan Hare Stadium. The last two times these teams met was in 2004—once in the regular season which Auburn won 34-10, and in the SEC championship game which Auburn also won 38-28.
Missouri vs. Illinois
In this series Missouri leads 14-7. This game will be played on August 30 in St. Louis at the Edward Jones Dome. The last time these two teams met, Missouri won 40-34.
Florida vs. Georgia
The World’s Largest Cocktail Party—in this series Georgia leads 46-37 with two ties. This game will be played on November 1 in Jacksonville at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The last time these two foes met, Georgia won 42-30.
Oklahoma vs. Kansas
In this series Oklahoma leads 66-27 with six ties. This game will be played on October 18 in Norman, Oklahoma at the Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium. The last time these two teams met, Oklahoma won 19-3.
