The Fighting Irish with a tradition that matches the best of the best in college football, again reminds us this is part of the past, part of the Four Horseman, and part of a era long ago, because the truth be told the Irish have not been anywhere near the top of college football in over 15 years.

Tim Brown, Lou Holtz, and a valid defense are things of the past, as the Irish defense looks like the Taliban fighting the mighty United States Marine.  How can one call themselves a BCS contender with a Defense that gives up over 34 points to a freshman quarterback, and a USC offense missing a top tier running back due to a freak weight lifting accident.

The Irish Defense and Irish game plan put together by Weiss is not that of a champion, but more like what the Irish fans have seen over the past 10 years.  A great fan base hoping for more, but the talent, the play, and the results looking the same.  The Irish can not even be compared to the Boise State Broncos, a team that over the past ten years has dominated, year in, and year out.  That program is a modern day program, while the Irish still dream of Tony Rice, throwing balls to the Rocket.

The Hype is just that hype, and if one wants to talk football please do not include Notre Dame in the conversation.  Yes, Lou Holtz I am talking about you.  Please refer your expert opinion to up and coming modern programs that have won games and will win games.  Teams such as the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Boise State Broncos, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Alabama Crimson Tide, now these programs can be mentioned as contenders, not the Irish.

Weiss you give up 30 plus points to USC at home, you lose to a very average Michagan team, and the results are in, and you are average.  You are an average recruiter, an average motivator, and an average play caller and manager of the game.

The Irish are not an average program, and will not settle for average.  Mr. Weiss I suggest you look into a short sale in Las Vegas, as I heard a rumor, don't know if it is true, but Vegas has the best all you can eat buffet's and the best price.
