Arsene Wengers Arsenal defeated Alex Mcleish Birmingham 3-1 with Robin van Persie, Abou Diaby and Andrei Arshavin on the score sheet for Gunners. The only goal for the Blues was scored by Lee Bowyer.

As Arsenal had scored 14 goals in there previous three games at the emirates, so they didn't waste any time in getting on the score sheet, with Diaby and RVP scoring inside a four minute spell early in the first half. Birmingham replied but as Arsenal was on a roll so they don’t allow any more goals. Andrei Arshavin, also got his name in the goal scorers by scoring a late goal.

The memories of February 2008 (the last time these teams met), Birmingham defender Martin Taylor broke the leg of Arsenal forward Eduardo, were relived when in the seventh minute, Birmingham left-back Liam Ridgewell slid into Arsenal’s Theo Walcott. Walcott badly hurt, needed treatment, while away fans sang “There’s only one Martin Taylor."

Match Review (My Opinion)

A typical post-international break performance. I cant comment on the overall performance but it was a pretty comprehensive victory. Only goal we conceded was again an air ball which the keeper could have dealt with easily.

Some other points are that Gibbs really has to has to cut down on his attacking instincts a little bit. He was leaving the LB position too exposed sometimes.

But a good performance put in by Eboue. Diaby Fabregas and Rosisky were little out of colour but they can have these types of games occasionally and while someone steps up we should not complain too much.

Arshavin may look out of the game for some parts of it but he always crops up with an important contribution to the game. RVP is on a terrific streak and he looks to have adapted well to the front man role. Defense was overall good too.

Overall a satisfying performance and coupled with other results, it's shaping up to be a terrific weekend.

Progress In Diaby

As I said, Diaby will improve and he showed his improvement today. Diaby had a great game and we can already see that he is improving in every match. Usually Gibbs left too much space when he attacked from the left hand side and Diaby was there to cover for him. He also scored the goal which was easy according to his standards but overall good contribution in the midfield. It would be awesome if he had scored the 4th goal which was a pretty easy chance.

It would be a problem for Arsene once Nasri returns because of the way Diaby improving in every match and also supporting Song for defensive duties.
