Who you got for the Super Six World Boxing Classic?

This was the question I had for all of my fellow collegues that I bumped into at the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight as well as the Vitali Klistchko vs Chris Arreola fight.  It seems that most of the media was pretty divided.

Of course the majority of the American press I talked to was obviously hoping for an American to be victorious, and I personally believe America needs an American hero to win this tournament in order to bring the sport of boxing back on the main stage of the U.S.A, where it once was shining so beautiful for so many generations.

The overall early consensus pick for most experts is the Danish Viking Warrior WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler 42(32)-1 for his overall experience in the division as a champion and having facing the better super middleweight opposition.

The sleeper underdog favorite by many of the same experts is American Andre Ward 20(13)-0.  Ward and Kessler face off in Ward's backyard in Oakland, Calif. November, 21st.

Ward is probably the most green fighter in the super middle weight tournament only behind the other American and other Andre, Andre Direll 18(13)-0 who fights Brittish WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch 25(20)-0 in the UK this Saturday.

Also fighting this Saturday in the Super Six World Boxing Classic is

Arthur Abraham 30(24)-0 taking on Jermain Taylor 28(17)-3 in Arthur's backyard in Berlin,Germany.

I received a press release from Goosen Tutor Promotions where the subject heading was Ward and Kessler give us their picks for this Saturday night's fights.  It appears that Ward is rooting for both fellow American fighters Taylor and Dirrell to win.

Ward states, “With Jermain Taylor and Arthur Abraham stylistically, I don’t think Abraham is going to put a whole lot of pressure on Taylor in the later rounds.

“In the Dirrell-Froch fight, I feel that if Dirrell fights a disciplined fight and continues to do what he’s been doing in the ring, but does it better because this is another level of competition, I don’t see why he won’t walk away with the victory,” Ward continued.

Kessler on the other hand was not as clear on his picks, but just wanted to see two great fights.

"As a fighter I look forward to be a part of this great tournament, but as a boxing fan also, I am very excited to follow all the other fights in the tournament," Kessler said.

"Hopefully the group stage concept will create even more entertaining fights—at least I hope so.  A K.O. victory will put you close to the semifinals!  The tactical dimensions of the fights will be changed with this concept without a doubt."
