Asdrubal Cabrera Reportedly a Potential Trade Target for Cleveland Indians
ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reported Friday that the Cleveland Indians have expressed interest in acquiring infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from the New York Mets.
Cabrera has deep ties to the Tribe, as he spent the first eight seasons of his MLB career as a member of the Indians.
The 31-year-old Cabrera is hitting .250 with nine home runs and 29 RBI for the Mets this season after a 2016 campaign that saw him hit 23 homers, which was the second-highest total of his career.

Cabrera has played both second base and shortstop this season, and he is reportedly willing to play some third base as well, according to Marc Carig of Newsday.
This is the final season of Cabrera's contract, but he does have a 2018 club option attached, per Spotrac.
If the struggling Mets have no intention of picking that option up, then he is a prime trade candidate ahead of the July 31 non-waiver deadline.
Since second baseman Jason Kipnis has been on and off the disabled list this season and the Indians have a lack of experienced infield depth, Cabrera would make plenty of sense as an acquisition.
Although Cabrera wouldn't necessarily be a high-impact arrival, he would provide quality insurance, and it is unlikely the Indians will have to give up a top-notch prospect to get him.
