Danilo Completes Manchester City Transfer from Real Madrid on 5-Year Contract

Manchester City officially completed the capture of Real Madrid right-back Danilo on Sunday, with the club announcing the signing via its official Twitter account:

BBC Sport's Simon Stone detailed how the Brazilian has moved to the Etihad Stadium in a deal costing £26.5 million. The former FC Porto man has signed a five-year contract, per the report.

Despite interest from other clubs, Danilo revealed the one factor that made him choose City, per Stone: "There was interest from other clubs, but it has always been my ambition to play for Pep Guardiola."

Danilo will now join Kyle Walker as part of City's summer spending spree to overhaul their options at full-back. It brings to an end an uneven spell with Los Blancos, where the ex-Santos player struggled to endear himself to the fans and supplant Dani Carvajal.

The 26-year-old's future at the club looked grave when he scored two own goals in January, and Real are allowing him to move on despite the fact he recovered to enjoy a fairly positive end to the last campaign.

According to Squawka, he made 20 appearances in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League combined last year.

During that time, he won 43 tackles and 29 headed duels, as well as making 42 interceptions and 48 clearances. Going forward, he scored one goal and contributed three assists, having created 21 chances and completed 16 take-ons.

While he may not have particularly impressed during his time with Madrid, Danilo could prove to be a useful acquisition for City, since he's versatile enough to play both full-back spots and even in midfield.
